The company was founded by Brian Abel on May 1, 1975, when Abel started doing small landscaping jobs while working alone out of a small garage. He soon hired Tom “Squint” Dilling and Steve Smith. They are still working with him today. The work force stood at 15 in 2004.

Our 40+ – plus major pieces of equipment include semi tractors, quad axle and single-axle dump trucks, 4x4 rubber-tired loaders, bulldozers, tractor loader backhoes, grading tractors, skid steer loaders, trenchers, more than 20 trailers from semi to utility hydro seeders, and straw mulchers, and many attachments for the listed equipment.
Services
Abel Landscaping provides lawn installation with hydro-mulch, traditional seeding, sodding, nursery stock, edging, Typar-cloth installation under stone, some 50 types of decorative stone and mulch, excavation, top soiling, stonework, walks, patios, retaining walls, construction of large ponds and snow removal.
Here are some larger noteworthy projects successfully completed by Abel Landscaping across the state:
Correctional Facilities: Sturtevant, Taycheedah, Oshkosh, Mauston and Racine.
Large wastewater treatment facilities: Ashland, Racine, Eau Claire, Milwaukee South Shore, Port Washington, Sheboygan, Waukesha, Sturgeon Bay and Iowa City, Iowa. Also, many smaller projects were handled by Abel Landscaping employees in Wisconsin.
Low-cost housing and elderly housing projects in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois number about 75 with many Wal-Marts, Menards, Home Depots and Shopkos. Also, many mall and shopping center contracts were completed.
Municipal jobs include bicycle trails, parking lots, parks and tree planting, topsoil, seeding and mulching for new streets. Abel Landscaping has planted more than 10,000 trees that beautify Fond du Lac terraces.
Fond du Lac-area projects include the new Fond du Lac High School, Marian College, Smith Field, the Fond du Lac Youth Baseball complex, Fruth Field, the Johnson Street corridor, Home Depot, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Fond du Lac Area Visitors & Convention Bureau, fire stations and the Fond du Lac Public Library plus thousands of private homes.
